  1. My senior year of high school my brother, sister and I began a new tradition. Our mother is notorious for being really…anxious about Christmas dinner so none of us liked being near the kitchen for the four hours leading up to dinner. My brother had just gotten Legend on DVD and my sister had gotten Willow, so the three of us holed up in my room with the 13″ TV and confiscated DVD player watching the two movies. now every year we choose two movies of the same genre to watch together (even though our mother does Christmas Brunch now).

My favorite holiday memory is every Christmas eve my mom and granny would be up most of the night baking cakes, pies and cooking different dishes for Christmas dinner. They would always have the Motown Christmas album playing in the background while they cooked in the kitchen. I would help by either peeling potatoes or cutting of veggies that was needed or washing dishes. O and I also was the taste tester too lol. Those were really great times going up…

  3. I remember every Hanukkah when I was a kid my mom use to make latkes w/powdered sugar. They were my absolute favorite! :)

  4. I remember how much my Grandmother enjoyed her Christmas stockings. I think she enjoyed finding little goodies in that sock more than any gift that was under the tree for her.

  5. As I pondered Christmases Past the memory that popped up was the year I got my first fur coat. Calm down, this was in the early 1960′s and fur was not verboten. Loved that coat even though it was formerly my mother’s and had been cut down and remade to fit me. There was something about it that made me feel so grown-up and special. I wish I could reclaim that feeling as now I’m past grown-up and sliding down the hill to you know what and no longer feel special just old.

  8. When I was in 6th grade ( a long time ago) my mom told me to take out the trash on the way to the bus (we lived out in the country). So I went in the basement, grabbed the trash bags and took them out to the road.

When I got home from school, my mom was sobbing hysterically. The garbage that I took out was actually all of our Christmas presents! I had no clue they were down there. LUCKILY…she was able to get a hold of the garbage company and by some Christmas miracle, they had not smashed our trash yet in the truck. All of our presents were returned in perfect condition except one mirror got broken. I got a clock radio that year and thought I was the coolest kid in the world!

  9. Christmas time was always special to me as a kid because we’d spend Christmas Eve at my aunt Deb’s house. She always made it extra special with all the goodies she’d make. My grandparents raised me and I think my Aunt Deb always tried to make up for her brother, who was my father and just couldn’t be the dad he should have been. One Christmas he was supposed to come and visit but didn’t. Me and my sister were so sad. I had cried until I had made myself sick but we still made the trip to aunt Deb’s. When we got there, she had transformed her whole house into some Christmas Wonderland. She’d put up her usual tree but instead of the fancy crystal decorations she had hung cookies, candy canes, and those old fashioned glass ornaments that were in the shapes of Santa Claus and Christmas scenes. She had strung lights along her hallways and had two piles of presents that were for both me and my sister. She had also had one of her friends from the factory she worked to play Santa Claus. Me and my sister had quickly forgotten our heart ache over our dad and it was one of best Christmases we’d ever had because she’d made it so very special by making her home a child’s wonderland with just some ornaments, treats, and the love she had for us.

  10. MY TRADICTION FOR CHRISTMAS WAS TO DO EVERYTHING EXCEPT ADDRESS CARDS! LOL I JUST SIGNED ADDRESSED THEN S/O SEALED AND STAMPED THEM!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL,

  11. Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year, the songs, the lights and the atmosphere. Sadly the last couple of years I’m spending it alone due to family disputes and losses. My fondest memory was when the whole family came together at my gramps’ place. All the women were cleaning ,decorating and making preparations for the Christmas dinner also did some last minute shopping. While the men were…doing whatever they did (which was probably nothing). But those preparations for Christmas itself was the most fun, we shared laughs, stories tried out new recipes and laughed our butts of when they failed or tasted horribly. No matter what happend and will happen in the future that memory will be forever in my heart. That is how I want to remember the family.

My favorite Christmas memory is a few years back when my children and I started a new tradition. All of us watch my husband put up or Charlie Brown tree and giggle when he makes his comment of “One of these years you kids will know what a real tree looks like.” To which my son (the only boy and the oldest at ten) replies “Mommy said she was going to try and get a real one this year. Maybe she’ll be able to do it next year.” To which my husband retorts “We can only hope, this Charlie Brown tee of ours is almost on its last leg.” It has been the same conversation for the last three or four years now and I love hearing it every year. Who knows, maybe my son is right and next year I WILL be able to get a real tree lol

  13. I remember going to my grandparents (mom’s parents) Christmas Eve for lunch and dinner – we’d stay until really late (well probably until 9 or so but as a child it seemed really late lol). We had a big meal for lunch, and smaller meal with lots of desserts for dinner. My Grandmother had stockings for all of the grandkids hung on the mantle. In between the food we’d exchange gifts. After dinner we’d all carpool in a couple of vehicles and go view the Christmas lights around town and surrounding towns too even. After a big day at the grandparents I got to come home and see if Santa had came to my house early – which he always happened to do so! I’d get to open my presents before bed. Christmas Day was always spent at my other grandparents house (dad’s parents), where my grandmother had this huge feast of food and goodies she’d worked on for weeks getting ready. It was such a nice time getting to be with family.

  14. i remember going to both my grandparents place for Christmas with my parents for couple hours giving out presents. have dinner and lunch with my brothers family telling stories. having fun just relaxing with the family. and all that snow that we had.

  15. My favorite holiday memory is when I took my two children to Australia for Christmas. My family lives there so it was a family reunion Christmas. It ended up being very special because my dad died shortly after. That Christmas will always be very special to me.

My favourite holiday memory is when we friends( just girls) went to Louisiana,New Orleans on a 3 day trip. This was the first time for all of us and we were all exited, scared, proud all at the same time!!!.We had a blast witnessing the Mardi Grass festival, visiting swamps, meeting crocodile”Betty” .Just loved French Quarter( felt like we were transported to an alternate world filled with old world charm.) I treasure this memory because
New Orleans is just not the same anymore after hurricane Katrina, and it teaches us that one should value everything in life, every moment of it, because you don’t know when and how change is going to happen.Change is inevitable and the only constant in one’s life.

    Merry christmas in advance!
    Thanks for the giveaway.

All the best Christmas memories involve family- whether it’s a great breakfast or an amazing evening meal. The smiles, laughs, pranks, story (many tall tales-lol) telling -that’s the treasured gifts. Not the toys that either got lost or broken nor the clothes that we will fit back into. Those days help build my love of the written word and the emotions that the carry

Thanks for the smiles and laughs -keep them coming

Each and every Christmas has been spent with family – my parents, siblings, spouses and children. One of the many Christmases I remember is when my husband and my two kids moved into our first home built from the ground up and designed by my husband and I. Our kids and us were so excited to be celebrating Christmas in our new home! We didn’t have much furniture in our living room so we sat on pillows around our fireplace and opened Christmas gifts. What a great time we had!
